Logo Workflow – CommentBook.net

Comment Book Final Logo

This logo is one of my recent project done for my fellow blog called “CommentBook.net”. I love the name of this site which instantly gave me an idea for the logo. Before going for the workflow, lets see what CommentBook.net is all about.

Commentbook.net is a website where we publish news related to social media, current trend, hot in web, tutorials, programming tips & other funny and informative stuffs. Commentbook.net has anything and everything from celebrity to web, latest on all the happening news.

As always, first I sketched down the ideas on my favourite sketch book with pencil, pen or marker. Sketching is fast and you can tweak your idea faster than starting to create a logo directly from computer. This is the part where you brainstorm and experiment with your logo. Then I search for inspirations, study the competitors logo and understand the client’s function. And again start sketching while mix-matching shapes and ideas.

This is what I came after sketching few drafts for commenbook.net logo.

Actually I came upon very fewer options, but I was satisfied with it. But it’s not predictable at all, as last time I had to spend more than 8 hours just for the sketching and brainstorming part.

Secondly, after I was satisfied with my drafts, I then started working on my vector application. I usually use Corel Draw for vector works and Adobe Illustrator for more complex work or work which need more details. Among the drafts, I liked the last two options so I quickly created them. They are as follows.

Comment Book second stage

I liked the first one better than the second draft. Then I added details like the initials of Commentbook.net which is “C” & “B” in the logo. After adding shadow, highlights and a little dimension, the final logo looked like this.

Me and my friends are satisfied with the logo. This is one of my favourite logo because it is quite self-explanatory.

The logo is Comment Balloon shaped which denotes comment, speech or dialog. And I have given it a feel of book by adding dimension, center fold and pages at the left side. And a final touch by giving a little light through top right side which has caused to fall a shadow behind the initial “C”.
